The rising star of the British pop scene made his comments in an interview with Capital FM earlier this month.

But the Scottish musician, whose single Someone You Loved topped the charts for seven weeks, was somewhat vague as to his reasons why.

Presenter Jimmy Hill asked the star "if you could buy a house anywhere in the world, where would it be?".

To which the musician said without hesitation: "Diss".

Asked why and where Diss was, the 22-year-old from Bathgate said: "It's somewhere in England, I heard it on TV once. Diss."

To date, Capaldi has played four sold-out tours, and in his first ten months of touring sold 60,000 headline tickets.

He is currently supporting Bastille on their tour 'Still Avoiding Tomorrow'.

We wonder where he had heard of our delightful town...

  • Lewis Capaldi's first cousin twice removed is Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi.
  • Diss has also recently been mentioned in the song The Houses of Diss by the Sea Cadets on BBC Radio 6.
