Bid to turn Newton Flotman agricultural land into a dog walking field

Plans have been lodged to change agricultural land in Newton Flotman into a dog walking and activity field.

The proposal, for land adjacent to Zazarac, in Church Road, will be considered by South Norfolk Council.

Supporting evidence submitted by applicant Mary Thompson-Darch said the site ‘benefits from a prime, centralised location attracting a potential audience of over 100,000’.

“The dog field provides a private, secure space for dog owners to allow their dogs to be off the lead without posing a risk to other dogs, pedestrians, vehicles, or livestock,” said the document.

No lighting is planned for the field, which would be self-manned, with an online booking system and a key code to enter.

Proposed opening times are 7am-8pm Monday to Friday and 7am-7pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, with reduced hours in winter.

The one-acre field would be surrounded by a 1.5 metre fence, with a shelter, dog waste bins and parking for six cars. There would also be agility equipment, tunnels and toys, while each booking would be limited to six dogs.
