PICTURES: First ever Diss cyclathon hailed as a ‘wheelie’ big success
Diss’ first-ever cyclathon has been hailed as a “great success.”
More than 500 riders are thought to have taken part at the event on Sunday and news of next year’s cyclathon is expected soon.
Alan Franks, event organiser, said: “We were thrilled at how well everything went. We already knew we’d got the support of the town council and events team in Diss but to see so many people coming along on the day and getting involved in cycling was excellent.
“It really shows that there’s a large and growing interest in cycling in Diss and the surrounding area.”
A car boot sale was held in Fair Green in the morning, and many of the town’s shop windows played host to decorated bike wheels. The Nine Town Sportive also organised 25, 50, and 100 mile routes as part of the event.
The event was raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
