Peter goes through the keyhole to secure new home for business

A Norfolk locksmith has taken on a new shop with a well-established name as a base for his business.

Peter Waldron, owner of South Norfolk Locksmiths, has moved in to The Keyhole’s former site in Market Place, Diss.

The 50-year-old, from Victoria Road, was a pub landlord, before changing career path and becoming a locksmith four years ago.

“I had been in the pub trade for 15 years and, with that ending, this was something I always had an interest in, so I just went for it,” he said.

“The response from the public has been very positive and we have already gained several jobs off the back of it already.

“A lot of people have come in and expressed an interest to use us in the future and are happy to see something happening in the shop, instead of it sitting empty.”

The shop used to be owned by Dave Webber for 17 years and did watch repairs and battery replacements, until it closed in June last year.

Mr Waldron has kept the name of the shop, The Keyhole, as he said it is so well-known in Diss and beyond and fits perfectly with his business.

“Even though we are doing a different trade in there, I was keen to keep the name over the door,” he said.

“Being a locksmith and taking on such a long established name in the town seemed to go hand in hand.”

South Norfolk Locksmiths can help with all types of domestic locks, as well as window repairs, emergency services and key cutting.

From its Diss base, the business covers south Norfolk and north Suffolk, including Attleborough, Thetford, Long Stratton, Harleston, Bungay, Stradbroke, Eye and Stowmarket.

“Though most of my work is mostly mobile, it is great to have a base in town to promote my business,” added Mr Waldron.

“I would like to thank all of my customers and look forward to seeing them in the new shop.”
