Diss shoe giveaway postponed until after lockdown
A couple have been forced to put plans for a shoe giveaway on hold – after fresh UK-wide restrictions scuppered the initiative.
Catherine Osorio, 38, and partner Stuart Warren, 37, from Harrier Way in Diss, collected around 300 pairs of children’s shoes in the hope of hosting a giveaway event on November 21, only for the country to be plunged back into lockdown.
Catherine said: “We take donations of good quality, used children’s shoes, through our drop-off points in south Norfolk, before handing out the shoes to families and children in need of them. Unfortunately, at present, the need for this type of community service is greater than ever.”
When the event is rescheduled, families will be able to take up to two free pairs of shoes for their children.
“Once we have a new date, we will ensure everything is safe and we will have hand sanitiser, an entrance with a separate exit, along with disposable socks for trying on the footwear,” added Catherine.
“Anyone who is experiencing financial hardship is welcome to attend, with or without their children.”
