Diss has new council information point at the heart of the community

The octagon building in Mere Street, Diss, has opened in its latest incarnation as a hub for South Norfolk Council.

Having previously been used as a tourist information point and a shop, the small building was opened in October as a space where people can drop by to discuss any issues with council staff.

“It’s really about bringing council services closer to the heart of the community so people can drop in and chat about anything, from help in accessing our online resources to planning applications and other council-related matters,” said South Norfolk councillor Graham Minshull.

“Face-to-face discussions are important for a lot of people, so we are manning the Octagon hub from Monday to Friday with council staff who can help.

“With our new main office moving to Broadland Business Park, this will save many people a long trip when they want to speak to someone in person.”
