Hopton author puts together book on village's journey through 2020
A local history and writing enthusiast has compiled a book covering all the developments and happenings in his village over the past year.
Richard Gadsby, 84, has self published the book - called Hopton’s Happenings, which is now on sale in Hopton’s village shop.
It is the fourth book he has written, having penned a similar book about Hopton when he lived there in 1977, before writing two more ten-year round ups of Garboldisham after moving there.
Having now moved back to Hopton, Mr Gadsby to write a second book on the village.
He said: “When Covid came along, it made it much more poignant to have a record of how the village was adapting during lockdown. The book has 280 photographs, which give a visual representation of how it has changed through the year.
“It covers the commercial side and the social and gives an insight into what a typical Suffolk village is like during this time. I’ve also left a few pages blank at the back so readers can add a few of their own photos.
The book can be found in the village shop - Hopton Stores.
