Waveney Valley MP Adrian Ramsay attends taster event as Diss Library celebrates reopening
Residents have been given a taste of the services on offer at Diss Library as it celebrated its reopening after a 10-day closure.
The library service welcomed both the public and dignitaries, including Waveney Valley MP Adrian Ramsay and Diss mayor Declan Craggs, to an event at the Church Street site on Friday.
Diss Library temporarily closed between June 15 and 24 to allow to allow for boiler replacement and the installation of a more efficient and safer heating system.
Kelly Bearton, manager of Diss, Harleston and Long Stratton libraries, said the event was a huge success, attended by more than 50 people.
“We wanted to get everyone together to mark the reopening of the library and highlight our services and work in the community to people who have been here before,” Kelly said.
“Attendees were given a sample of what’s on offer and we also had some people there from the different groups we run at the library as well.
“We wanted to make sure people know we are there all the time for various services they might need. If a blue badge is needed or they are new to the area, please come in and see us.
“It was great to have our special guests with us to celebrate.”
In addition to books, Diss Library also offers a song club for under fives, baby weighing, IT skills workshops, a group for the visually impaired, story time for under fives, reading groups, tutors and also stocks free sanitary products.
The library also recently renovated its courtyard into a quiet space to read.
