A technology supplier that serves as one of the largest employers in Diss has stated its pride in its progress after being dubbed one of Britain’s fastest growing businesses in international sales.

Midwich, based in Vinces Road, leapt up to number 31 on the 2015 Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 league table, a 45-place jump from its rank of 76 in 2014, following a reported 86 per cent increase in its annual international sales over a two-year period.

The company, which employs approximately 440 staff, including over 250 in Diss alone, has attributed this significant rise up the table, in large part, to the success of its recent overseas ventures, which saw it purchase the controlling stakes of AV distributors in Germany and Australia.

Stephen Fenby, managing director at Midwich, said: “Midwich is proud to be growing and enjoys the new challenges and opportunities these acquisitions bring.

“With the main business located here in Diss, there are always career opportunities.

“Midwich looks forward to continued growth and development, especially through distribution of market leading technology and providing customer excellence.”

According to the earnings report for its latest financial year ending December 2014, Midwich, which distributes major brands such as Samsung, LG and Panasonic, now claims to bring in more than £89 million from international sales, contributing towards overall sales in excess of £280 million.

Amanda Murphy, of HSBC, said the Track 200 list was a ‘great reflection of the value of building connections overseas’.

“The world is getting smaller, and international business relationships are easier to build, providing ambitious businesses with many more opportunities to grow,” she said.

“I’m delighted to see so many great British mid-sized firms making such a strong impression on the world stage.”
