MEMORY LANE: Oyez! Oyez! New store opens in Diss
Published: 08:23, 25 January 2015
It is 20 years ago this year that the British Heart Foundation charity shop in Diss opened.
Dipping back into the Diss Express archive reveals this photo, from September 1995, which is captioned as the opening of the store.
The shop is located in Mere Street, and clearly the charity pulled out all the stops by getting in town crier David Bullock. Also pictured was the then shop manager Jackie Dring.
Mr Bullock was the Norwich town crier, who has currently notched up 30 years of service.
Mr Bullock’s skill as a town crier has taken him all over the world, and a civic reception was held in Norwich in 2010 marking his 25 years of service.
