Mellis musician invited to play at Latitude Festival

A Mellis musician is jumping for joy after being invited to play at this year’s Latitude Festival.

Lucy Pearson, a producer, writer and singer, will be performing a set on the Inbetweeners Stage at the renowned festival on Saturday, July 14.

Lucy, who recently started working at Access Creative College in Norwich as a tutor for music production students, received an email earlier this month inviting her to perform.

The talented 24-year-old, who is also a part-time waitress at Wortham Tea shop, was over the moon.

“The only words when I read the email was: ‘Yes, yes and yes’,” said Lucy, who has been going to the festival since she was 16.

“It is a local festival that has gone on to become one of the biggest there is, so it is a massive honour for me.

“I have a slot on the Saturday and will be performing my own music. I’m really looking froward to it.”

Lucy began her musical career after discovering some music production software on her dad’s computer at the age of nine.

Apart from advising music students in Norwich, she has also collaborated on music projects with other musicians, after connecting with them on social media.

“I’ve worked on projects with people from Paris and London and, closer to home, in Ipswich and Colchester,” she said.

“I have so far released one album, called Escape, and will be releasing a new song called Nothing Like My Love, and a video on the day I perform.”

Latitude takes place in Henham Park, Suffolk, from July 12 to 15.
