David Case, chairman of the Diss Triangle Project, has been awarded an MBE for his services to the community.
The heritage project, which started in 2010, helped restore and revive the town's Grade II-listed Corn Hall and create the Heritage Triangle area.
Mr Case, 81, from Brockdish, said: “I’m absolutely delighted as it was unexpected.
“It's really a recognition of, not just me, but the the whole team of volunteers for the Corn Hall, the Triangle project, and who are now working to revive the high street.
“I have been surrounded by a very committed team.”
“One of the good things is that we seem to have several of the younger generation prepared to come in again and help.”
The Cornhall venture, itself, originally launched in 2010 transformed the Grade II listed building into a multi-purpose arts, education, and community center with a £2 million National Lottery-supported project.
Additionally, a £3.4 million Heritage Triangle project, largely funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and local authorities, further regenerated the historic town centre, attracting tousands of visitors.
The Corn Hall now attracts national and international acts and has become one of the premier arts and entertainments venue in the region.
