Man in 20s arrested after young child seriously injured in A134 Brandon Road, Thetford, fail to stop collision




A man in his 20s has been arrested after a young child was seriously injured in a collision where the driver failed to stop.

The child was taken to hospital after the crash on the A134 Brandon Road, Thetford, at around 6.50pm on Monday.

The road was closed for just under an hour while emergency services attended to the child.

They were taken to West Suffolk Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrooke’s, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

The man was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning on suspicion of causing injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He remains in police custody.

Sgt Peter Howlett, of the Roads and Armed Policing team, said: “I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and has provided information to aid with our investigation.

“I would urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
