Libraries in Diss area to reopen this week

Libraries in the Diss area are preparing to open their doors for the first time in more than three months.

The Diss Library in Church Street, Framlingham Library, and Stradbroke Library will open on Monday, albeit with a number of social distancing measures in place, whilst the libraries in Debenham and Eye will open on Tuesday.

A one-way system will be implemented – similar to what has been used in shops – whereby customers will only be allowed in on their own or in pairs, and only upon presentation of a library card.

Libraries are set to begin a phased reopening from tomorrow.

Jan Holden, head of Norfolk Library and Information Service, insisted things will feel “very different”.

She said: “We will be asking people not to stay too long and there will not be any study spaces or newspapers on offer.

“Staff will be on site to guide customers and all libraries will be providing hand sanitiser stations and clear signage.

“We look forward to welcoming people back, although things will feel very different.”

Residents will be able to visit Diss Library on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 10am to 6pm, and on Saturdays, from 10am to 4pm.
