Harleston Ladies Circle bag hundreds with bake sale for town’s Spring Fest
Tasty treats were on the menu at last weekend as Harleston Ladies Circle brought their best bakes to the table to raise some funds.
The group, which has an ethos of “friendship, fundraising and fun”, held a bake sale outside The Swan Hotel on Saturday.
The members were raising money for their second spring festival, which will take the form of a family fun day at The Cap pub, on May 3.
April Drury, the chairman of Harleston Ladies Circle, said: “The sale went absolutely amazingly. It helped that it was a beautiful day weather wise, and we were really chuffed with how it went.”
Last year’s sale raised £263 – a total that was surpassed, just, this time around, thanks to a total of £266.
She added: “We will take the extra three pounds as a win.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to everybody that turned out for us on the day, especially everybody who contributed bakes for us, such as Harleston Tangent.
“We are very grateful for the all the support we get for this and other events throughout the year.”
Mrs Drury said the group hoped that this year’s spring festival, which will have a host of entertainment, food, and fun for all the family, will be even bigger and better than last year.
“We can’t wait to see people again,” she said.
“We raised £4,000 last year and all of that goes back into the community, so if we can get around the same amount this year, that will be amazing.
“In whatever we do, we hope other young women see what The Circle does and then maybe come and join us – then we can help our community even more.”
