Head of Norfolk Museum Service Steven Miller, of Redgrave near Diss, made an MBE in New Year Honours




A Redgrave man who is head of a county’s museum service has said he is ‘delighted’ to have been made an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours 2024 list for his services to heritage and tourism.

Steven Miller has been director of culture and heritage and head of Norfolk Museums Service since 2013.

The service, which has been an Arts Council England major partner museum since January 2012, is one of the largest county museum services in Britain operating 10 museums across Norfolk including Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery, Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, Time and Tide in Great Yarmouth and Ancient House Museum in Thetford.

He said: "I am delighted to have received this award, and I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to work with so many talented and hard-working colleagues across the cultural, heritage and tourism sectors."

Prior to taking up the role of head of museums for Norfolk, Steve was chief executive of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, one of the largest independent museums in the UK (2006-2013).

Steve has also been a member of the European Cultural Parliament since 2008 and is a cultural leadership fellow of the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts.
