Scole travel agent, near Diss brings best of both worlds service via family-run enterprise
A family-run travel agency is enjoying a flying start to life after being launched 18 months ago.
Karen and Stuart Martin, of Scole, set up Martin Travel - Not Just Travel in July 2021 and are backed by the Not Just Travel franchise.
“They provide training and support and put us in touch with other travel consultants, so it has been very important to have them on board as we grow,” said Mrs Martin.
“We are currently getting our name out there and are filling the gap between online holiday bookings and going in to a high street travel agents.
“You can have the comfort of booking your holiday from home with us, while still getting that personal touch as well, and there is not a lot of choice of travel agents around here, especially ones that can offer the best of both worlds.
“It’s important to most customers to talk to a person about their holiday and have it tailor-made for them.
“They don’t have to just pick the package that is there on the screen, we can adjust individual parts of it for them, making sure they get the airline, accommodation and experience that they want.”
Prior to launching their business, the husband and wife team both held managerial roles, and have a daughter who has experience working for a travel agency.
“In a few years, we hope that our daughter might join us to make it a family business that she can then carry on,” said Mrs Martin.
They offer a bespoke service for customers, and check in with them to see how their holiday went.
“We’re passionate about holidays and getting people the right packages at the right price,” she said.
“We booked a honeymoon for a couple not so long ago and they sent us a photo of them watching whales from their hotel room, which was a lovely thing to see.
“As well as being the best option for customers, running the business from our home also fits in well with family life.”
