South Norfolk based former Norfolk Police officer charged with online offences




A former Norfolk Police officer who was based in South Norfolk as an Inspector has been charged with online offences.

Norfolk Constabulary has confirmed that former Inspector Jon Papworth, from Horncastle in Lincolnshire is due to appear in Norwich Magistrates Court on February 21 charged with two counts of improper use of a public telecommunications network under (Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003).

Section 127 of the act relates to communications which are grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing nature, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another.

The 46 year old was an Inspector based in the South Norfolk area when the alleged offences took place.
