Roydon, near Diss-based garden landscape business The Garden Project Team is changing lives and gardens with a dash of water feature wizardry

A garden landscaping buisness – built on water feature wizardry and run by three brothers – is celebrating the approach of its 10-year anniversary.

The Garden Project Team, based in Roydon, was founded in March 2013 by James Rackham, who now runs the business with the help of his brothers, Alex and Lee.

Offering design and landscaping services for gardens, with a specialist focus on water features, the business has been inspired by James’ love of the outdoors.

“Horticulture has always been a big hobby of mine,” said the 28-year-old. “My family are in the building trade, so it was the perfect business for me.

“I’ve never worked a day in my life, really, because I love what I do.

“I was always interested in plants and vegetable gardens. It’s very satisfying to draw an idea on paper and see it brought to life.

“It’s mostly art and design, with our water features offering a creative way for people to incorporate more of nature in to their garden.

“People are naturally drawn to water and an increasing number of our customers want to have a water eco-system in their garden.”

Having been operating in the local area for 10 years, the family venture is looking to build on its success by offering makeover advice and pond maintenance work.

“We’re branching out in 2023 to offer more services for private gardens and commercial spaces within around half an hour’s drive of Diss,” said James.

When not winning plaudits for their work – James was recently presented with an award by well-known pond specialist Mark Wilson – the brothers can be found working on their next unusual side project for this year’s Diss Carnival.

“We have actually won the prize for most flamboyant parade float in 2019 and 2022,” added James.

“We had a train design one year and a dinosaur theme, complete with exploding volcano, so we’re hoping to defend our title this year.”
