Midwich offering firewood and food vouchers to help with cost of living crisis

The largest business in Diss is dishing out food vouchers and firewood to help its staff manage the cost-of-living crisis.

With energy prices soaring, Midwich is providing supermarket vouchers, fuel vouchers and everyday items to any of its workers that may be feeling the pinch.

The specialist AV distributor’s cost-of-living package will be implemented throughout this month and the next, primarily focused on its 270 staff based at its Vince’s Road headquarters.

UK and Ireland managing director Mark Lowe said: “We have worked really hard in recent years to continually improve what we offer our people.

“We have paid particular attention to regularly reviewing salaries and perks.

“We also operate meaningful incentives like our profit-share scheme and free share awards.

“In addition to this, if there are small gestures that we can make to help our people while the cost-of living is high, then we are absolutely committed to doing everything that we can.

“We have plenty more ideas and have recruited a full-time person to help with this.

“We hope that other businesses in the region can be encouraged to implement creative and impactful ways of supporting staff during challenging times.”

Free lunches and hot drinks are also being provided at the on-site cafe, with family treat bags containing sweets, hot chocolate and popcorn free for people to take home.

Everyday items such as toiletries and cleaning products are also up for grabs. Any items not used by Midwich staff will be donated to Waveney Foodbank located at Hope Church, in Diss.

Earlier this month, the firm reported revenue in excess of £568.6 million since January this year – marking an increase of 45.8 per cent.

Despite the threat of the cost-of-living crisis, managing director Stephen Fenby insisted the firm was in a strong position to weather the storm.

“We have demonstrated the resilience of our business in more challenging economic conditions, as seen by our strong performance throughout prior recessions,” he said.

“Despite our overall scale, growth and geographic breadth, the opportunity for the group to grow profitable market share remains strong.”
