Attleborough home fire image sparks Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service alarm check post

The county’s fire service has shown how important testing your fire alarm is after revealing an image of a fire that started in a child’s bedroom.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue showed the image of an Attleborough home in a post to remind people to check their fire alarms, which they call #TestItTuesday.

The service said the fire had started after a cordless drill was left overnight to charge on a bed in the unnamed home last week.

Fortunately, the householder’s fire alarm alerted the house and gave them enough time to call 999.

The post on the service’s website said: “There was nobody in the bedroom at the time of the fire and nobody was injured.

“Charging devices for long periods of time, or on flammable surfaces such as bedding and sofas can cause overheating and have devastating consequences.”
