Engineers recalled to new Victoria Road crossing in Diss
County highways engineers have been asked to revisit a new pedestrian crossing in Diss after complaints that it is too dark and could be dangerous to use.
Work to improve the pedestrian crossing in front of the leisure centre in Victoria Road took place in November.
The crossing was upgraded to become a shared use pedestrian and cycle crossing with belisha beacons, instead of the traffic light system, which needed replacing.
The crossing was designed following consultations between Diss Town Council, South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council.
South Norfolk councillor, Keith Kiddie, told Diss Town Council meeting that he had contacted engineers after learning of the concerns and standing at the lights from dusk till dark to try to work out what was happening, as the street lighting has remained the same.
