The team at a popular village pub is celebrating the end of a year-long refurbishment project and a successful AA hotel inspection.

The Bell Inn at Rickinghall was taken over by Lindsey Booty and Jordan Fox in 2016 and now has a new bar and restaurant, eight refurbished en-suite rooms and an outside play area.

“During the refurbishment, we didn’t close the pub but tried to work alongside everything,” said Lindsey. “There were a few tears and tantrums, but we got there.”

She added: “When we first took over, the pub was very quiet and run-down. Now, however, we are having very good local trade.

“The Bell Inn is a dog- and family-friendly pub, but also ideal for functions and special occasions – it’s a pub for everyone.”

Two weeks ago, the pub was visited by an AA hotel inspector and came out with a four-star silver award for its accommodation and chef Joshua Atkin received a dining award for outstanding local-produce food.

“I am very happy and very proud,” said Lindsey.

“Next, we would like to work towards a Rosette award.”
