A Norfolk-based horse welfare charity is celebrating after winning two distinct awards from a national magazine in recognition of its services over the past year.

Redwings Horse Sanctuary, in Hapton, was voted the Favourite UK Equine/Donkey Charity, an accolade given as part of the 2014 Your Horse Magazine Awards, by the publication’s readers.

The organisation’s celebrations were doubled when Nicky Jarvis, the Head of Veterinary Care at Redwings, was also voted as the Ultimate Your Horse Magazine Expert for the year.

Lynn Cutress, chief executive at Redwings, which is one of the largest horse sanctuaries in the UK, said: “”We are absolutely delighted to have won two awards from Your Horse magazine and it means so much that we have been voted for by the readers. Such appreciation and recognition for our work cannot be underestimated so I would like to thank everyone who voted for us.

“I would also like to congratulate Nicky on being awarded Ultimate Your Horse Expert, as well as taking this opportunity to thank each and every member of the Redwings team who are committed to ensuring a safe and happy future for all horses, ponies, donkeys and mules”.”

Going into 2015, the sanctuary states it currently has 1400 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in direct care, with an additional 500 living in guardian homes across the country.
