Diss nursing home receives plaudits for work during outbreak

Members of staff at Walcot Hall nursing home in Diss have been recognised for their efforts to support clients during the Covid-19 pandemic, in a special week of appreciation.

Throughout last week, care homes and branches of Healthcare Homes Group – of which Walcot Hall is one – were visited by members of the executive team, and special events were held whilst adhering to current restrictions.

Healthcare Homes Group operations director Anthony Beorby visited the home and presented staff with an individual letter with vouchers, and a specially designed canvas print to be displayed in the home, along with a selection of goodies for all to enjoy.

Residents wore their best outfits and were presented with personalised word cloud pictures, whilst tables were decorated with flowers from the garden.

Mr Beorby said: “It was a pleasure and a privilege to visit the team at Walcot Hall as part of our appreciation week, which was about recognising the efforts of every member of staff who have each gone above and beyond to protect and care for our residents during the most challenging time in our history.

“These efforts have been phenomenal and we are proud and extremely appreciative for everything they have done, and wanted to recognise this as part of our appreciation week. Thank you to you all.”

Home manager Sue Doherty added: “This was a really lovely occasion and a chance for us to celebrate our people, with our residents, who were delighted to enjoy such a wonderful afternoon.

“Anthony’s words of appreciation were gratefully received by the team, who have worked so hard over recent months.”
