As part of the Diss Express’ 150th anniversary this year, cartoonist Mike Webb has agreed to dip into his archive and pick out some of his more memorable creations.
This cartoon, from the mid to late 1970s, featured Mr Black’s chemists shop in Mere Street, Diss, now the jewellers Every Cloud.
Mr Webb told the Diss Express: “This is not much in the way of a joke, more an excuse to have fun with the window display.
“I don’t know who the chap on the right is, but I used to see him around Diss.
“For anyone who remembers me from Harleston in the 60s, that’s Jim Penguin on the coin-operated scales.
“Peeping in from the left, with a horrible 70s haircut, is me!”
