Children in Hoxne will no longer be able to complain that there is nowhere to play when a new £50,000 play area is officially opened.

It has been constructed on the village playing field, adjacent to the pavilion, and is the culmination of three years of fundraising.

The equipment includes a cable way run, multi-play climbing towers, a balance beam, a cone climber, bird’s nest swing, steel slide and other swings suitable for various ages.

Grant givers include the Awards for All Lottery fund, Suffolk Community Foundation, Mid Suffolk District Council, Hoxne Parish Council, the Maynard Educational Trust, Suffolk County Council, Adnams, and the Corporate Regeneration Fund. Residents have also contributed.

St Edmunds Primary School pupils will open it this bank holiday Monday. The playing field will be open from 2pm and refreshments will be available.
