John Doe of Diss reach milestone after grandson, 23, appointed managing director

A carpet business has reached a monumental milestone after its newly-appointed managing director became the third generation of his family to hold the position.

Nathan Doe follows in the footsteps of his grandparents, John and Angela, his father, Charles, and uncle, Edward, in overseeing the day-to-day operations of John Doe of Diss.

After taking up the position last month, the 23-year-old former Hartismere School student seemed unshaken by the responsibility handed down to him.

“I’ve never been too caught up with titles,” said Mr Doe, who lives in Scole.

“But I’ve always had the aspiration of running the business – that’s what I have been working towards.

“There’s a saying some people use: ‘the first generation starts it, the second generation grows it, and the third generation blows it’ – well, I can confidently say that is not going to be the case here.”
