Diss historian and postcard collector raises £2,300 for Big C charity

Diss historian and postcard collector Dennis Cross has met representatives from the Big C charity to hand

over the fruits of his latest charity efforts.

Mr Cross has raised more than £2,300 for the charity through the sale of a calendar over the Christmas period, which features postcard pictures from Diss dating back to more than 100 years ago.

The handover took place beside the Mere on Wednesday, with Mr Cross being quick to offer his thanks to all those who bought one.

“It’s difficult times for a lot of people but we sold all of the ones we printed and were able to print a few more and sell those too, so I’m very grateful for that.

“The Big C have said with how things have been lately, it’s been harder to get money in, so they’re really happy to send someone down and pick up the money.

“It’s a nice thing to raise some money with the calendars once every few years, and people have asked me how much we’ve raised this year so it will be great to be able to let them know the final figure.”

Mr Cross creates a charity calendar once every three to four years and wanted to support a cause that helps many people through fighting a disease that affects so many.

He added: “I added up all the money I’ve made for the four calendars I’ve done so far and it’s £8,643 which is a nice amount.”
