Diss business forum rejuvenates collaborative efforts of business community
The relaunch of a business group in Diss has rejuvenated the collaborative efforts of the town’s business community.
Thirty-five people attended the relaunch of Diss Business Forum after it had been dormant for two years due to the pandemic.
The role of forum chairman has been taken on by Ben Cussons, director of accountancy firm Scrutton Bland, with four other committee roles being filled by members of the business community in Anna Jones, Di Grantham, Judy Ward and Chris Aldrich.
“What we really want to achieve is to create a space where businesses are able to have a voice and feel connected,” said Mr Cussons.
“Personally, I want Diss to prosper, and that’s a wish shared by our businesses, the council and the people who live here.
“Having a point of contact for networking and connecting, as well as a voice in terms of working with local councils and bringing like-minded professionals together, is an important part of that.
“We want to work more closely with local council members because we all want the same thing – a flourishing town.
“The launch was really encouraging, with 35 people there, despite the fact our mailing list was still the same one from two years ago.
“So it may take a bit of a push to get things moving again, but we had lots of positive comments on the day and our hope is that, in the future, the forum can be a first port of call for new businesses.
“It will also serve as a place for all businesses to come for advice, support, informative talks and guidance.”
The relaunch event took place at Diss Golf Club and was attended by businesses both inside the town and from the surrounding area.
This was followed by a business breakfast meeting on Wednesday, with more events set to follow.
