Burston Crown landlords to celebrate ten-year success story
A 10-year-success story will be celebrated at the Burston Crown on Sunday.
Bev and Steve Kembery are marking a decade since they settled at the pub — Mr Kembery had been a touring chef before and had cooked for music stars like U2, Bruce Springsteen and Sting — with a free fun and music day.
Since they took over the Crown with Jonj Piers-Hall — who they hope will return with his family to celebrate the anniversary with them — it has thrived while many rural pubs have struggled or closed.
Mrs Kembery puts it down to a passion for the business, consistently good-quality food with innovative, local dishes, and always looking for fresh ideas like the original music which she has championed, particularly on Thursdays and Sundays to mark the start and finish of the weekend.
“My husband is the chef patron and I am front-of-house with our daughters, so it is a family business. Our focus is on good, honest food and trying new events,” she said.
“You can’t stand back stand back and expect people to come through the door. We love what we do.”
“We are a centre of the community and we are looking forward to celebrating our anniversary with our wonderful customers.”
The ten-year celebration day will include music from Vagaband and Mista Beat, children’s entertainment and a barbecue.
