Builders’ merchants returns to family ownership after more than a decade
A well-known DIY and builders’ merchants in Pulham Market has returned to independent family ownership after more than a decade.
CTS DIY & Building Supplies was acquired by national chain Buildbase in 2007.
Now, the Scott family, who started the business 40 years ago, have returned in a remarkable turnaround for the company.
Laurie Scott and Donna Eaton will oversee the business that their father Trevor Scott began in a rented barn, before moving into its own premises and building a thriving company, employing up to 20 staff at its peak.
Mr Scott said: “Both Donna and myself have gone off to do other things in our careers but the opportunity to rekindle a business we loved so much growing up was too tempting to pass up.
“When Buildbase decided not to renew its lease, we both carefully explored the possibility of restarting CTS and making it the popular local firm it always was.”
CTS DIY & Building Supplies has already reopened and welcomed back many old and new customers.
Its store in Mill Lane is open to both the public and trade personnel and has been modified to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Mrs Eaton added: “We are retaining the same values CTS always had, of friendly customer service, honest advice and expertise, and stocking a wider range of products than many of our competitors.
“But we also want to adapt our offering to the current climate, so we will shortly have a new e-commerce website up and running, with a click-and-collect service and delivery to the local area.”
