Owners of JJ's Vapes already looking to expand vape business in Diss

Two brothers from Pulham St Mary are going full steam ahead after establishing two vape shops in south Norfolk – and have their sights set on expanding even further.

Jordan and Jamie Walker, who are 23 and 20, respectively, set up JJ’s Vapes, in The Street, Long Stratton, in 2020.

Enlisting the help of their parents, Chris and Heidi Walker – who run JJ’s Coach and Taxi, in Diss, and Stratton Street Cars, in Long Stratton – the new shop became the only one of its kind in the town.

Following their quick success, the pair opened a second store in Chapel Street, Diss – even introducing their own line of vape juice, JJ’s.

“We were having customers come to us from Diss, so we thought we would be able to expand,” said Jordan. “We saw there was a place in Chapel Street, we just went for it.

“Our goal is to help people stop smoking by getting them on the correct set up, in the most cost-effective way, then lowering the strength and getting them off vaping all together.”

Electronic cigarettes, which use water vapour to simulate tobacco smoking, are considered to be a healthier alternative to traditional cigarettes – with plans for the NHS to begin prescribing them to smokers.

Despite the lobbying efforts of the UK Vaping Industry Association, vape shops were not considered an essential service during lockdown, restricting the brothers to a delivery service for much of the past two years.

“Our customers couldn’t understand why we couldn’t open,” said Jordan. “When we came back from lockdown, we had a lot of customers who had gone back to smoking because they couldn’t get any bottles and we couldn’t get our deliveries.”

Now, the brothers are eyeing up a third store.

“We’ve got loyal customers and they came straight back to us when we reopened,” added Jordan. “So now, we’re looking to branch out again.”
