Old Buckenham balloon festival is soaring success despite weather issues.

Hot-air balloon pilots and interested watchers gathered in Old Buckenham at the weekend as part of an annual balloon festival.

The third edition of the event attracted crowds of 7,000 people on each day, despite the weather hampering proceedings.

“This year, the weather was not playing ball,” said festival balloon manager Sean Simmington.

“Wind conditions were far too strong to allow free flights of the balloon. The pilots were still able to display, but tethered to the ground. On the Friday and Saturday evenings, there was a basket and burner glow set to music.

Not quite as stunning a sight as the envelopes glowing at night, but an awesome sight nonetheless.

“The event was sold out, which was great to see.”

Crowds were able to enjoy a dinosaur show, craft stalls, street food and other forms of entertainment, making for a fun-filled event.
