All that jazz: World-class trumpeter set for Diss Corn Hall show

An acclaimed singer and trumpeter with a world famous jazz band is set to make her first appearance in Diss next month.

Georgina Jackson, part of the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, will bring her Sass & Brass show to the Corn Hall on March 7. She will be joined on the night by the Chris Ingham Trio.

After acquiring a somewhat unfashionable obsession with jazz and big band music at an early age, Georgina learned her trade as a lead trumpet player while working with Frank Sinatra Jr, Nancy Sinatra and Seal.

She has fronted several BBC broadcasts, paying tribute to Peggy Lee with the BBC Big Band, and American composer Irving Berlin with the BBC Concert Orchestra in Friday Night Is Music Night.

Georgina was one of the headline performers at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Hollywood, co-hosting the opening concert with legendary Cuban virtuoso Arturo Sandoval. She remains in great demand with her trio show and as a guest soloist.

Tickets to the show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £17 and can be booked online by calling the box office on 01379 652241 or online at thecornhall.co.uk.
