Wymondham kicks off season of recitals

Wymondham Abbey will launch a brand new season of coffee-time music recitals with a concert by Norfolk organist Prue Goldsmith tomorrow morning.

Prue studied with David Dunnett and plays regularly at a number of churches, including St Thomas Heigham, the Octagon and St Nicholas, North Walsham.

She will be playing a selection of pieces ranging from Suite du Deuxième Ton by the 17th century French composer Clérambault, right up to England’s Glory by Nigel Ogden, in addition to music by Bach, Elgar, Reger and others.

The performance will display the range of the Abbey’s 1793 James Davies organ, a highly regarded instrument of major importance. The recital begins tomorrow at 11am, although coffee will be available from 10.30am. No tickets will be needed, but there will be a collection at the end to raise funds for the Abbey.
