Church drama

Rehearsals for Cathedral.
Rehearsals for Cathedral.

A dramatic musical story that combines both narration and memorable piano music will echo through two churches in Norfolk and Suffolk during performances this weekend and next month.

Cathedral, written by Sue Heaser and composed by Peter Creswell, brings to life a narrative inspired by the true events at Norwich Cathedral in 1643, when a master stonemason and his granddaughter are threatened with tragedy as soldiers approach the city with orders to destroy all images in churches.

Featuring Mike Breen as the narrator and Richard Donmall on piano, the drama is in a similar style to The Midsummer Hare, which was performed at Wortham Church back in 2013.

Two performances are tomorrow at Wortham Church, at 3pm and 7.30pm - tickets are £10, or £5 for under 16s, from 01379 898479 - while the performance at Riddlesworth Church is next Saturday at 7.30pm; entry is free of charge.
