Wilby wins two in row

George Wilby was again in top form to net a second successive Diss Angling Club veterans victory.

This time fishing at Thorpe Abbott, Wilby again took the honours on double caster and pole, taking a haul of bream, roach and perch weighing at an impressive 24lb 1oz.

Dave Shearing took second place with a mixed catch of bream, roach and skimmers totalling 16lb 10oz ahead of Bill Crisp who took a similar catch, weighing slightly less at 16lb 1oz.

There was also joy for Andrew Mears as he took victory in a club match at Diss Mere.

He netted a haul consisting of carp, tench and skimmers weighing in at 19lb 14oz to finish ahead of Jimmy Ellis with a 14lb 10oz catch of crucians and skimmers with red maggot and pellet, followed by John Mears whose mainly carp haul weighed in at 4lb 2oz.
