Weekend round-up: Leaders crush Tangerines while Diss Rugby’s run comes to an end
Diss Town remain bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League premier division following a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of leaders Norwich United, watched by a crowd of 63. Both Diss and Ely City, on seven points, are ten points adrift of Wivenhoe Town, the club immediately above them.
In the first division Debenham LC were beaten 1-0 at King’s Lynn Reserves. With both March Town and Swaffham Town winning, Debenham slip to fifth.
In rugby Diss Town picked up a losing bonus point as they were beaten 21-14 at Campion in a top-of-the-table London League 2NE clash. Campion move up into second place, with Diss slipping to third.
In the Sky Bet Championship, Ipswich Town were unable to take advantage of Middlesbrough’s win against the day’s early leaders Derby County and move into top spot, after being forced to settle for a share of the spoils following a 0-0 draw away at in-form Bolton Wanderers, leaving them fourth in the table.
Rivals Norwich City moved up to seventh after securing a second successive win with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Huddersfield Town, their biggest of the season, following second-half goals from Bradley Johnson (two), Nathan Redmond, Cameron Jerome and Lewis Grabban.
