Weekend round-up: Diss rugby’s Twickenham adventure ends, Diss Town beaten at Godmanchester
Diss’ road to Twickenham hit a dead end in the regional semi-finals of the Rugby Football Union Intermediate Cup with a 33-7 loss to Maidstone on Saturday.
Diss Town remain seven points adrift of safety in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division after a 4-2 defeat at second-placed Godmanchester Rovers. In the First Division, Debenham LC hit Leiston Reserves for six, thanks to a hat-trick from Ben Golding, a first for the club from Luke Austin, one from goalkeeper-turned-strike Steve Fenner and another from Rob Kemp.
Long Stratton drew 0-0 with Kirkley and Pakefield Reserves in Anglian Combination Premier Division, while Harleston Town moved up to fourth with a 1-0 win at Cromer Town.
In Division One, Scole United thrashed Holt United 10-0 as they catch up on their countless games in hand over the four sides above them.
Ipswich Town moved back within two points of the summit of the Sky Bet Championship table thanks to a 2-1 triumph at Fulham, while Norwich City jumped into the play-off places with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
