Diss Vixens run out dominant winners in National Cup clash
In front of mayor Sonia Browne, Diss Vixens Under-18s turned on the style at the weekend by beating Crusaders 65-10 in the National Cup.
The hosting Blues did much of the damage during the opening 20 minutes of the contest at Mackenders.
The Vixens pinned the visitors back into the own half and the pressure soon told when Sophie Leighio crashed over to open the scoring.
Further tries followed from the likes of Ellie Gardner, while Ruby Gaze – who also dotted down – was accurate with the boot.
Crusaders responded well and scored a couple of tries, but the Vixens still took a relatively comfortable 26-10 lead with them into the break.
The first try of the second half was always going to be crucial in the context of the game and it went the way of the home side when Gardner went over once again.
A number of other tries followed, including one from Ella Levingbird, who accelerated under the posts after an impressive team move.
To their credit, Crusaders refused to throw in the towel but they were up against a rampant Diss outfit on the day.
