Walsham record big victory
Walsham-le-Willows (234-6) racked up their 10th win of the season in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship Division Three on Saturday, overcoming Woolpit II (120) by 116 runs.
Much of the success was down to the performances of captain Liam Bryant, Oli Jackson and Ben George, who produced the goods with bat and ball.
Opening the batting, skipper Bryant top-scored with 84, which included 11 fours and one six.
And his contribution was helped along by Jackson as he hit a swift 77 off just 57 balls as Walsham reached a competitive total from their 45 overs.
In reply, Henry Bevan (67) took the game to Walsham, but eventually fell to the bowling of George.
He was one of six Woolpit batsmen to have their wicket snared by George, who shipped 31 runs from his 12.2 overs – including one maiden.
Ash Forbes and Mark Rothon, meanwhile, weighed in with two wickets apiece to help wrap up the comprehensive victory for the home side.
The win has moved Walsham up to sixth place in the standings ahead of the curtain coming down on their season at Abberton & District tomorrow (12.30pm).
Abberton currently occupy third position.
