Diss Town’s run in the Norfolk Senior Cup came to an end in the fourth round following a 3-1 home defeat to Ryman League Division One North outfit Dereham Town.
In an entertaining game, with the action moving from end-to-end, both teams went all-out for the win.
Despite the Tangerines taking the lead, it was the Magpies who did enough in the second half to progress.
Diss opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Callum Olpin cut in from the corner of the penalty area and curled a fine shot round Viner and inside the far post.
Ten minutes later, the Tangerines came close to increasing their lead when Viner came out towards the corner flag and failed to gather a loose ball, Danny Self’s effort from a tight angle finding the side netting.
The visitors equalised in the 39th minute when Ryan Crisp slid in at the far post to convert a low cross.
Nine minutes into the second half, the Magpies took the lead through Luke Tuttle.
Diss searched for a leveller but Dereham dealt a killer blow in the 86th minute when Sam Borrer scored from close range.
On Saturday, Diss host Ely City in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division.
Jack Simpson scored as Diss Reserves were beaten 2-1 by Gayton United in the Norfolk Junior Cup.
