Tangerines move off the foot of the table with draw

Diss Town lifted themselves off the foot of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division table with a hard fought 0-0 draw away at Gorleston.

It was the Tangerines second successive draw to leave them 10 points adrift of safety.

Diss RFC remain on course to challenge for Intermediate Cup glory after getting through a third round tie with Hammersmith and Fulham in a 26-15 victory.

Meanwhile Ipswich Town secured an FA Cup third round replay with Premier League high flyers Southampton following a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.

Darren Ambrose opened the scoring after 19 minutes with his first goal for the Tractor Boys in 12 years after returning to the club this season, before Morgan Schneiderlin levelled in the 33rd minute.

In contrast rivals Norwich City suffered a shock exit as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat away at League One outfit Preston North End.

On loan striker Paul Gallagher broke the deadlock in the 71st minute before doubling his tally with five minutes remaining to knock the Canaries out.
