Diss Rugby Club ready to welcome back supporters for friendly against Ipswich YM
After a long absence, supporters can return to Mackenders to watch Diss Rugby Club’s first team in adapted contact action tomorrow (3pm).
The Blues are set to entertain Ipswich YM in a friendly encounter, still with no scrums or mauls, with the sides meeting again for a reverse fixture in Suffolk a week later.
Head coach Nick Greenhall said: “When all the restrictions were lifted we were keen to get some competitive rugby sorted for the players.
“These couple of games against Ipswich should prove to be useful run-outs.
“It will be great to see as many of our supporters down at the ground as possible.”
Diss were also in friendly action last weekend when they overcame visiting Norwich 24-14.
The hosts were 12 points to the good at the break, only to find themselves 14-12 behind at one point during the second half as Norwich responded positively.
However, two further tries wrapped up the win for Diss, who pleased Greenhall with the way they implemented the things that had been worked on in training.
“We’ve trained fairly regularly recently and worked on a few things,” he added.
“It was good to see some of our tries come from the kicking phase – that’s something we’ve been working on. It’s given our newcomers the chance to integrate and also lay down the foundations for next season.
“Hopefully that will continue in the next couple of weeks against Ipswich.”
