Long Stratton set for 'massive weekend' in the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division

While it may be a 'massive weekend' for Long Stratton, manager Adam Burroughs has urged his players to concentrate solely on the job in hand.

Last weekend's 6-0 win over St Andrews saw third-placed Stratton, who are three points behind Sheringham in second, cut the gap on Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Premier Division leaders Caister to four points.

And with Caister set to travel to Sheringham tomorrow afternoon, Burroughs' men will make up ground on at least one of those sides providing they pick up maximum points from their home encounter against 11th-placed Acle United (2.30pm).

Stratton will then head to Caister the following weekend in another potential six-pointer, but the boss is looking no further than the Acle clash.

"It is a massive weekend and the boys are well are of that," he said. "But all we can do is win our game and let the other two battle it out. If we do our job we are going to gain some ground.

"We cannot afford to be looking elsewhere because if we start concentrating on that and we end up losing, the result of the Caister and Sheringham game almost becomes inrelevant for us.

"We obviously go to Caister very soon and that could be a huge game, but we have to do our job on Saturday first before we look to that one."

Stratton, who have picked up more points at home this term than any other side in the Premier Division, head into the weekend on the back of that resounding victory over St Andrews.

The league's leading marksman James Bemrose helped himself to four goals – taking his tally for the campaign to 25 – while Sam Page and Charlie Deakin also netted.

"It was a really good performance and it carried on our positive home record," added Burroughs.

"We wanted to get at them early on and it worked because we were 3-0 up after 20 minutes and the game was dead and buried.

"We scored six and to be honest it could have been even more. We set out to win every game and look to get on the front foot as early as possible."
