LEARN MORERecent Diss Town arrival Lagshan Sivakumar is well aware that it will be tough to continue his current form in front of goal.
However, the striker is confident that he can continue to find the back of the net with the regularity required to help push the Tangerines up towards the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North play-off places.
The forward, who joined Diss from lower-league Mattishall, scored twice in Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Whittlesey Athletic – taking his tally to four goals in just two appearances.
“(Joining Diss) was a fresh start and I thought it might take a little while to get used to things, but the players made me feel welcome and it just clicked,” said the 19-year-old.
“It’s given me some early confidence and that makes a big difference.
“I’ve shown what I’m capable of doing and I’ve set the standard, so now I need to keep going.
“Scoring two every week probably isn’t possible, but I never doubt my ability. I’ve shown I can do it at this level.”
Last weekend’s victory moved Diss up to ninth, six points outside of the play-offs.
It is a gap that Sivakumar believes the squad is capable of bridging.
He added: “You can never say never and I believe the squad is good enough to push up the table and into the play-offs.
“We’ve got to stick together, work as a team and hopefully I can play a big role by scoring the goals we need.”
