Secretary lands win

Club secretary and founder Andrew Daniels was victorious in the Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club last Saturday as 13 members sent nearly 200 birds to Canappeville in northern France.

A strong south west wind resulted in nearly half of the birds still not being home by Saturday night, with many thought to have gone up into Belgium.

Those that did make it home in good time were back in East Anglia in around five hours, with Daniels’ winning pigeon taking four hours and 50 minutes to return home, with a velocity of 1,347 yards per minute.

Fifteen minutes later in Dickleburgh, Graham Seaman was clocking his first pigeon in to take second position in the race, with Kelvin Sharman from Syleham in third and Daniels also taking fourth place.
