Seaman is victorious
The Diss and District Racing Pigeon Club hosted its first channel race of 2015 last Sunday with 14 members sending 155 birds to Clermont in France.
At just over 200 miles for most members, the racepoint is borderline between sprint and mid-distance.
The winning pigeon belonged to Graham Seaman of Dickleburgh, returning home in a fraction over four hours with a velocity of 1,560 yards per minute.
Club secretary Andrew Daniels, racing from his Diss lofts, was just a few yards behind in second and third while George and James Burrows took fourth place.
Tom Lowen, who has recently relocated to Diss, was fifth. It was a successful first flight of the year across the English Channel for the birds with very good returns on the day.
