Basement boys Diss Town saw their relegation fears worsen in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division after slipping to a third straight defeat, going down to an emphatic 4-0 loss at Felixstowe and Walton United.

The result leaves the Tangerines 12 points adrift of safety ahead of the festive period.

In the First Division, Debenham LC halted a winless run of three games with a hard fought 1-0 win over Great Yarmouth Town at home.

The result leaves the Hornets in third place, seven points adrift of league leaders Saffron Walden Town.

Meanwhile in the rugby, Diss got back to winning ways by overcoming Saffron Walden in a narrow 29-24 success.

The victory leaves Roger Coomb’s charges in third place in London Two North just two points behind leaders Chelmsford.

In the Sky Bet Championship, a last minute Steven Whittaker strike saw Norwich City snatch a share of the spoils away at promotion chasing Derby County.

Johnny Russell had given the Rams the lead in the 43rd minute before Cameron Jerome levelled eight minutes later.

Chris Martin put the home side back ahead from the spot after 55 minutes but they were denied victory as Whittaker struck late to seal a point for the Canaries.

Meanwhile rivals Ipswich Town moved to within a point of league leaders Bournemouth following a 2-0 success over Middlesborough.

Darryl Murphy opened the scoring in the 25th minute before Jay Tabb doubled the advantage 20 minutes later to lift the Tractor Boys to second in the table.
